Team Development
Our slogan is “An engaged worker is a safe worker!”
Keeping employees engaged in their work allows them to work more safely and more efficiently as there is less “water cooler talk” happening within the organization. Employees who are alert, educated, and valued will be more productive and efficient thus creating fewer incidents and injuries which in turn increases your bottom line.

Engaged employees are less likely to be looking for work else where, less likely to talk negatively about your organization, and more likely to promote your services and products to friends and family outside of the organization which in turn increases your bottom line. Team development is an important part of succession planing in any organization no matter how big or how small and regardless of industry.
Vital Insight can offer subtle team building skills in the form of safety meetings or we can do more extensive group work where employees can evaluate their current skills, develop new skills, and discuss current concerns or issues. Examples of team building skills include communication, time management, problem solving, listening, critical thinking, collaboration, and leadership.
Vital Insight promotes psychological safety which involves a plan, do, check, act approach to mental health and wellness in the workplace. Using these four simple principles allows the employee to see how effective they are now and how much more effective they can be in their communication with co-workers or even family members. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) & Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG)
To comply with the Global Harmonized System (GHS) and provincial WHMIS regulations, workers must be trained when working with, or near chemicals. Also to comply to the TDG Act and Regulations, workers must be trained in the transportation of dangerous goods as listed under the Act.

A worker must attend a WHMIS training program if they work with hazardous products, or if they may be exposed to hazardous products as part of their scope of work. Training information will include the safe use, storage and handling of the hazardous products as well as learn how to read labels and safety data sheets (SDS).
A worker must attend a TDG training program if they transport, ship and/or receive dangerous goods as noted under the TDG Act & Regulations. Training information will include classification and identification, placards and labeling, required documentation and shipping details, and exceptions and exemptions under the law.
A few examples of common hazardous materials and dangerous goods found at the workplace are oxygen, acetylene, propane, concrete, fertilizer, windshield washer fluid, gas, and oil. Vital Insight provides safety training for both online generic WHMIS & TDG and can provide employer specific training where applicable. Scroll to the Online Health & Safety Training section below to purchase the WHMIS and/or TDG training course.
Health & Safety Orientations
When an employee starts working for an organization it is beneficial to hold a safety orientation on or before the first day of work. This is a legislated requirement as well as a COR/SECOR requirement. The safety orientation provides the tools and resources needed to prevent incident, injury, & occupational illness.
Vital Insight provides company specific online interactive safety orientations to engage the worker in the learning process. The employer receives feedback on areas of the orientation in which the worker may have found difficult and uses this information to further train them. They may increase supervision as well until the worker is deemed competent to work independently.
The employee will receive training on company health & safety policies, conducting hazard assessments, review of safe work practices and safe job procedures, learn company rules, the process to conduct vehicle or equipment inspections, and the lock out procedure to use before conducting repairs or maintenance, learn how to report incidents and injuries, acquire skills to respond in an emergency, gain knowledge on worker and employer legislated responsibilities, and become familiar with other specialized programs offered by your company.

The online safety orientation can be done at the learners pace. The information is delivered in a motivating, energetic, and supportive manner. Health and safety management system resources are available for download for the worker to have at their finger tips and to refer back to when needed throughout the orientation and at the job site.
The more information your employees absorb during a safety orientation the less chance incidents or injury will occur thus increasing your bottom line!
Health & Safety Meetings
All too often companies hold quick safety meetings and either use them as a second hazard assessment or repeat the same topics over and over again. Workers start rolling their eyes and their minds start to wander to other things.
As a busy manager or supervisor, you will no longer have to try and come up with new topics.

Vital Insight offers health and safety meetings that eliminate the repetition and changes the meeting from another hazard assessment into a revitalized training session. The material is standardized, reflects all applicable government legislation, and is presented in a way to keep the workers engaged throughout the quick learning session.
The meeting comes complete with leadersheet, attendance sheet, information sheet, and a quiz to test learner knowledge and understanding. The meeting is e-mailed or uploaded one month before you need it. You just have to pick the day to conduct the 5-10 minute meeting either on site or at the office or shop.
We offer health and safety meetings on thousands of different topics, provide the meetings on your letterhead, with standardized information delivered companywide in compliance with SECOR/COR and OHS legislation requirements pertaining to the right to know.
